Originally designed for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, in 1957, the AJ Lamp is among Arne Jacobsen’s most significant design icons. Originally, the product family comprised a floor lamp, a wall lamp, a table lamp and a smaller table lamp, as well as a table lamp that was designed to be attached to the table.

His work with Louis Poulsen continued until his death in 1967. Throughout his life, PH sought to create glare-free lighting; aiming to direct light where it was most needed, and creating soft shadows while using incandescent bulbs as a light source.
