Can Foreigners Live Permanently in Thailand?
It is possible for foreigners to get permanent residency and live in Thailand for as long as they would like. This residency is not going to require any extension and is very convenient for the individual who wish to choose Thailand as a place for permanent residency. In order to do so, one needs to follow the below conditions:
- You need to hold a passport that is issued to your current birthplace, which was used to get a non immigrant visa in Thailand for 3 continuous visas with one year extension before the submission date
- You need to meet the following requirements:
- A. INVESTMENT: A minimum investment of 3 Million to 10 Million Thai Baht
- B. BUSINESS: Monthly income of more than 30,000 Thai Baht if you are married to a Thai person for more than 5 years
- C. BUSINESS: Monthly income of more than 80,000 Thai Baht if you are single
- D. Filing tax returns for the annual income of more than 100,000 Thai Baht for more than 2 continuous years
- Supports a family member in Thailand
- A. A legal husband or wife
- B. A legal father or mother
- C. A single child that is less than 20 years old and is not single
- Academics and professionals from certain fields
- Other categories that meet immigration codas
Foregin individuals who are able to acquire permanent residency will be able to enjoy the following benefits:

How to apply for residency:
